Hotham Mission

Logo for Hotham Mission

Hotham Mission operates a free community Homework Club in North Melbourne every Monday and Friday (during the school term) from 3pm - 5:30pm.

The Homework club is open to all young people in grade 1-6, with many in attendance living in public housing and/or of a culturally and linguistically diverse background.

We require motivated volunteers (unpaid) to assist with the tutoring of the young people, with the ability to commit to the session during the school term.

Hotham Mission welcomes and encourages all volunteers, particularly those from  diverse backgrounds and/or those studying education. We are seeking those who are willing to contribute their knowledge, expertise, skills, time and energy to support the programs. Hotham Mission is committed to non-discrimination in recruiting volunteers.

ALL VOLUNTEERS ARE REQUIRED TO:

• Be reliable and committed, be available for their rostered volunteer shifts and make a commitment throughout the semester. It is not essential that volunteers attend every session, but we encourage consistency and good communication around availability.

• Have enthusiasm and passionate about working with Primary School aged students.

• Have a desire to help the community.

• Abide by Hotham Mission values.

Volunteers are recruited based on an identified need for volunteer assistance to support the programs, as approved by the Youth Programs Coordinator. All applicants Must have WWCC and consent to Police Check.
