Help local plant and animals by volunteering at our indigenous nursery

Candlebark Community Nursery

Candlebark Community Nursery (Inc) is a self-supporting not-for-profit organisation established in 1994, dedicated to helping local people improve the natural environment.

We rely on volunteers to ensure our plant stock levels meet the requirements of local regevetation projects (especially council-led) and our local retail customers.

Our ativities are many and varied! Volunteers can:

  • collect seed and cuttings from local reserves (in summer)
  • propagate plants via seed or cuttings
  • help customers in the retail area
  • transfer seedlings into tubes
  • help maintain the nursery's gardens and facilities
  • assist with our website (Wordpress) and publicity
  • help with our presence at festivals
  • and many more activities!

No experience is required, just a willingness to learn. We are a very friendly bunch but the nursery has taken a hammering over covid lockdowns and we really need your help.

By volunteering at Candlebark you will:

  • Help your natural environment
  • Experience the thrill of growing from seed and watching them grow
  • Preserve endangered plant species
  • Help native wildlife thrive
  • Learn new skills
  • Meet friendly people
  • Make a difference by helping to preserve Australia’s heritage (a little at a time)
