Play a vital role in mentoring newly arrived refugee families to access and understand local services available to them, through volunteering in our Refugee Child Outreach (RCO) program.

By helping to establish community links and connections, you will support families as they settle into new community life with a focus on child wellbeing and development. What will I do? In this role you will collaborate with a fun and vibrant team to:

  • Meet face to face to assist families in line with RCO operational guidelines. This may include:

    1. - Supporting and mentoring families and individuals to complete application forms/referrals for service access 2. - Helping individuals and families understand and build confidence using the public transport system 3. - Supporting families to explore parenting across cultures using RCO tools and procedures 4. - Assisting families to engage in their community

  • Understand and be aware of the Multiagency Assessment and Risk Assessment Framework (MARAM).

  • Support families to meet their goals – with a focus on promoting child development.

  • Collaborate with agencies and services in partnership to enable seamless referral pathways and community connections.

  • Enter data and document case notes and assist with administration tasks.

  • Utilise interpreters with individual clients where English is not the first language.

  • Attend relevant team meetings.

  • Participate in regular case reflection.
